Dr. William P. Knowles, PMP, CPIM, is a member of the Salt Lake chapter of APICS and also is well known to the PMI (Project Management Institute) Northern Utah Chapter, having served several years ago on its Board of Directors.  Bill has been working in the Utah area for over 13 years, but already had years of experience working in IT project management as a software engineer at AT&T’s manufacturing plant in Guadalajara, Mexico.  He has had the opportunity to be involved in successful high-tech projects with government entities, including the US Air Force, and also has been a project manager for other large software development projects, such as the FamilySearch Internet site.  More recently Bill worked in program management on a multi-year series of projects with several LA County departments, and the past two years has served as the Director of Program Management and the Director of Project Quality Assurance for Product Development at Navitaire, an Accenture company.  In addition to the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from PMI and a CPIM certification from APICS, he also earned Oracle’s OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) in the area of software development, and is a certified translator (Spanish – English) by the ATA (American Translators Association).  Bill received his undergraduate degree in Biology, with a minor in Linguistics, at U.C. San Diego, and his M.D. from the UAG in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he also practiced as a physician.  Although he enjoys all areas of project management, he has a special passion for people-oriented communication, and enjoys mentoring.  He also has authored several exams, available at www.boson.com, to assist candidates preparing for the PMP certification exam.
