Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in materials management, manufacturing, or a related field
• 5+years of Materials Planning or related experience
• Experience with multi-site capacity planning and demand driven ERP systems
• Ability to take broad goals and break them down into manageable projects, manage those projects, and make continuous improvement
• Willingness to travel 5-10 days a month to the various facilities

Desired:

• APICS certification or CPSM a plus
• Knowledge of SAP / ERP systems a plus

The position is responsible for applying the guidelines of company policies, procedures, controls, and objectives with a wide variety of suppliers to obtain products that meet Cornerstone Research & Development Inc. specifications. Support manufacturing through the timely acquisition of goods and services based on MRP recommendations. Ensure material specifications are communicated to suppliers and track on time delivery performance by supplier.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

• Ensure timely return of non-conforming materials and that all credits are received and processed in a prompt manner.
• Ensures supplier lead-times are accurate and maintained.
• Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships.
• Contact suppliers with requests for quotes (RFQ), delivery information, and cross-references.
• Flexibility to effectively manage multiple commodities.
• Works with suppliers for improvement opportunities in terms of cost, quality, on-time delivery, and lead-time.
• Proactively perform competitive supplier cost evaluations and communicate to supply chain management.
• Monitor and maintain MRP system to ensure accuracy of information.
• Adhere to established metrics for the sourcing of materials to support R&D.
• Drive accurate and relevant specifications by reviewing with suppliers on a regular basis.
• Locate and maintain contact with material suppliers through visits, electronic communication and written correspondence
• Monitor supplier on time delivery performance communicating late deliveries to manufacturing.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions and update costs as necessary.
• Expedite orders as required to ensure that deliveries are received within appropriate timeframes.
• Discuss defective or unacceptable goods with quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of issue and take corrective action.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
• Five years purchasing experience in Pharmaceutical, Botanical or Nutritional Supplement industry.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Extremely organized and detailed oriented with excellent follow-up
• ERP system experience, preferably with JD Edwards
• MRP and Supply Chain knowledge
• Proficient in PC applications to include: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
• CPM / CPSM certification desired
• Knowledge of MRP a must

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and clients.  Ability to speak and understand effectively in English. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
APICS, CPM, CPSM, CPIM certification preferred.
Strong working knowledge of computers.

REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to prioritize projects and recognize deficiencies in paperwork.  Decision making abilities required.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
