Responsibility for over $200M+ of direct materials spend. • Supervision and responsibility for delivering company purchasing objectives for the US and for the global commodities under his/her responsibility: Quality / Cost / Delivery. • Development and strengthening of the US purchasing organization and processes. • Design/deployment of worldwide commodity strategies, to ensure immediate and long term competitive advantage for the company. • Management of long term supplier strategic partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelors degree and 10+ years of purchasing experience with direct materials expertise and international exposure. • Proven track record of global and strategic sourcing for various commodities. • Influencing skills and commercial awareness. • Technical background is a plus. • Strong leadership and negotiation skills • Ability to travel.

Education/Experience: This position requires a Bachelor degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent training and/or work experience in the procurement of electronic components. Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Special Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of our work this position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Occasional travel to suppliers may be necessary.

Incumbent must be able to purchase complex technical and engineering items, materials, and services.  Also must be able to deal with suppliers, which often involves persuading potential suppliers to undertake the manufacture of custom-designed items according to complex and rigid specifications.  The position is further responsible for the timely planning, scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services as assigned, consistent with our MRP requirements or with the requisitioner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Initiates purchase orders and change orders for parts, services, and/or special tools; close coordination with engineering and production managers to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.

Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness, with consideration to transportation logistics and inventory control for production material.

Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities and use the market trends to drive down cost of materials.

Conducts periodic spend review with Top Suppliers and manages the Supplier Scorecard reports with the Quality Management Team.  Manage supplier transition of materials from engineering to production.

Work closely with Engineers on projects in development and coordinate materials as required supporting the product launch through manufacturing/ production by managing any changes/ developments between engineering and suppliers.

Work under the direction from the Supply Chain Manager to develop strategies to develop preferred supplier program consistent with company guidelines.

Job Requirements
Bachelors degree preferred, but not required.
Five years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment. 
CPM, CPIM preferred.
Strong understanding of drawings and project management. 
Personal computer skills and knowledge of purchasing/accounting processes required. 
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
