Competencies: This Associate Buyer will master, demonstrate and be comfortable with basic negotiation skills and will transact with internal and external peers including those in higher management levels in sometimes stressful situations.
Education/Experience: This position requires a Bachelor degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent training and/or work experience in the procurement of electronic components. Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Special Requirements:

BUYER – Moxtek, Orem UT
Incumbent must be able to purchase complex technical and engineering items, materials, and services. Also must be able to deal with suppliers, which often involves persuading potential suppliers to undertake the manufacture of custom-designed items according to complex and rigid specifications. The position is further responsible for the timely planning, scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services as assigned, consistent with our MRP requirements or with the requisitioner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiates purchase orders and change orders for parts, services, and/or special tools; close coordination with engineering and production managers to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness, with consideration to transportation logistics and inventory control for production material.
Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities and use the market trends to drive down cost of materials.
Conducts periodic spend review with Top Suppliers and manages the Supplier Scorecard reports with the Quality Management Team. Manage supplier transition of materials from engineering to production.
Work closely with Engineers on projects in development and coordinate materials as required supporting the product launch through manufacturing/ production by managing any changes/ developments between engineering and suppliers.
Work under the direction from the Supply Chain Manager to develop strategies to develop preferred supplier program consistent with company guidelines.
Job Requirements
Bachelors degree preferred, but not required.
Five years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment.
CPM, CPIM preferred.
Strong understanding of drawings and project management.
Personal computer skills and knowledge of purchasing/accounting processes required.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment. JDE experience helpful. Experience in a high mix, short life cycle and frequent new product introduction environment is preferred. Medical device industry experience is also preferred. A Bachelor's degree is required. Requires excellent analytical, organization and decision-making abilities, as well as good oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and Access and experienced with supply chain planning software and ERP systems. Excellent organizational skills, independent thinking, and a high level of initiative are a must. The ability to work well independently and as a member of a team is essential.
