History of the Gordon B Affleck Awards

National President
The Association was honored when Gordon Burt Affleck was nominated and elected President of the National Association of Purchasing Managers during 1959. Gordon had held all the offices in the local association and had been the district vice-president the year before. He made many contributions to the profession and retired from active purchasing with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1974. National honored him as the recipient of the J. Shipman Gold Medal Award in 1967.

Gordon Burt Affleck Award
An annual award to recognize outstanding contribution to the Purchasing/Materials Management profession by a member of the National Association of Purchasing Management-Utah or persons employed full time in the purchasing profession and working in Utah.
